Stop Waiting for the World to Discover You.
Build the Life Your Art Deserves.

You’ve been making real work for years. And somewhere along the way, the gap between the art you make and the career you imagined started to feel insurmountable.

It isn’t.

What closes that gap is confidence — in who you are as an artist, in the value of your work, and in your ability to bring it into the world on your own terms.

You don’t need more information. You need a clear next step and someone who understands what it actually takes.

In a world flooded with AI-generated images, a human hand making something meaningful has never been more valuable. The artists who step forward now — with clarity and a real professional foundation — are the ones who will be remembered.

The Path Back to Yourself — and Forward Into the Art World.

Most artists don’t struggle because they lack talent. They struggle because no one taught them how to bridge the gap between making meaningful work and building a sustainable creative life around it.

The Working Artist Journey closes that gap — through professional structure, visibility, confidence, and practical tools designed for creative minds.

Crista

Built From the Real Art Market.

Before creating The Working Artist, Crista Cloutier spent years inside the gallery system — selling millions of dollars of artwork and building relationships with collectors, gallerists, curators, and institutions across the art world.

She represented top name blue chip artists and introduced unknown artists to the marketplace. Her files have been collected by the Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution.

Then she left that world behind and rebuilt her own life as an artist in Europe.

What emerged became The Working Artist — a framework that has now guided artists in more than 80 countries toward stronger, more sustainable creative careers.

You’re Not Joining a Course. You’re Gathering In Community.

One of the quietest transformations in The Working Artist Journey is the moment you realise you’re no longer alone.

Become part of something that has been meeting, growing, and supporting artists around the world since 2013. Every month, even after the course ends, you’ll be invited to the Working Artist Gathering to meet with Crista Cloutier — for teaching, honest conversation, peer connection, and sometimes a guest who changes everything.

These aren’t webinars. They’re the reason artists stay.

  • 13 — Years of monthly Gatherings
  • 85+ — Countries represented
  • — Lifetime access

* Gatherings pause while the Academy is running (approximately 3 months per year).

“The Working Artist saved me years of trial and error. And it didn’t stop when I finished — the monthly Gatherings are invaluable. Crista always gives an honest answer, even when it’s not what you want to hear.”

I Didn’t Learn This From The Internet.

I’ve guided thousands of artists all over the world as they’ve built stronger, more sustainable creative lives.

I’ve been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in the UK and received the Gold Medal of Honour from the French Academy of Arts, Letters and Science — not because I set out to collect credentials, but because The Working Artist proved itself over time.

I know what it takes to build a life around your art. Not in theory. In practice. And I built this program so you don’t have to figure it out alone.

“Since finishing The Working Artist, I’ve made 57 art sales — with more on the way. What I didn’t expect was the quiet confidence. On the way to my exhibition opening, I felt deeply relaxed. Excited, but calm.”

“I followed this program carefully and now I make a living from my paintings. I gave up my day job — during COVID no less!”

“I was worried I’d be reinforcing things I already knew. I was wrong. Even artists who’ve been to art school are missing the business skills that build a career. The Working Artist filled those gaps and gave me a confidence I hadn’t felt before.”

— Elizabeth Castaldo  ·  elizabethcastaldo.com

lynnetinley

“I’d never done an online course before — I’m 72 and not comfortable with technology. But something shifted. The changes weren’t just in my practice. They were in me — in how I see my work and how seriously I now take it. For the first time, I’m treating my art as the real and powerful thing it is.”

— Lynne Tinley

“For the first time, I feel like what I love doing is a possible career — not just a pipe dream. I have clarity and strategies I didn’t have before. It’s happening.”

Both options give you full access to The Working Artist Journey — every Flight Path, every resource, the Gatherings, all of it. The difference is support.

On your own, you move through the Journey at your own pace, in your own hands. With a Guide, you have someone walking alongside you — checking in, keeping you accountable, and helping you actually put the work into practice.

If you’re someone who finishes what you start on your own, the Journey alone will serve you well. If you do better with a little structure and a person in your corner, the Guide option is built for exactly that.

Your Working Artist Guide is a trained member of The Working Artist Guild who has been through this methodology themselves. When you choose the Guide option, you’ll connect with your Guide early in your Journey, and they’ll meet with you four times as you move through the program — at the moments when a little extra support makes the biggest difference. Between sessions, you can email your Guide with questions about the work.

They’re here to give feedback and help you actually implement what you’re learning, not just consume another course.

You’re not matched — you choose. As soon as you register for the Guide option, you’ll be able to browse the Working Artist Guides and book directly onto your chosen Guide’s calendar right away.

Yes — before your second session if the match doesn’t feel right. Just email Crista.

No — you have lifetime access. Take it at your own pace and return to it as your career grows.

Monthly calls with Crista Cloutier on the 13th of each month, open to all Working Artist alumni. Part teaching, part Q&A, part community — sometimes with special guests. Running since 2013.

Note: Gatherings pause while the Academy is running (approximately 3 months per year).

The Journey is self-paced and independent. The Academy is an annual live cohort with group calls, peer community, and Crista Cloutier as your mentor. Journey alumni are the first to be invited at a discounted tuition each year.

Not at all. If you can watch a video and fill in a worksheet, you have everything you need.

Email me at [email protected] — you’ll hear back from a real person.

You and your course illuminated my path from despair and homelessness to becoming a working artist. Now I have commissions coming in from around the world — and clients who are happy to pay what my work is worth. Five years ago, things were very different. Thank you for having faith in me.”
