Born in 1980 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Phil Davison initially worked as a mortuary technician and studied Genetics and Molecular Biology before following his creative urges and studying Fashion and Textile Design. He progressed to specialise in the construction side of fashion design, completing a Post Graduate course in Innovative Pattern Cutting at Central Saint Martins in London, and working as a creative pattern cutter in various prestigious London fashion houses.
In 2008 he committed to becoming a full time visual artist, focusing on the traditional technique of cross stitch and reinvigorating it into a contemporary graphic medium. His work sits at the intersection of craft and art, and is held within numerous private collections worldwide. Davison’s art has been exhibited in London and New York and has appeared in various publications, including Time Out NY and Cover Magazine. His artworks have also dressed television studio sets such as celebrity interior designer Celia Sawyer’s dealer room on Channel 4’s program “Four Rooms” in the U.K.
Currently residing in East London, he splits his time working between private commissions and preparing new artworks for future exhibition.
