I had reached a point where work was too much and life was not enough. That was about 10 years ago. I had drawn, painted, designed, and fiddled around but it was never focused or serious. Then stuff happened. It was time to taek the advice of the voice in the GPS directions and do some “recalculating.”
I decided to get serious about painting and use the pay job to pay the bills. I spent a few years taking drawing and painting classes. Malcolm Gladwell says it takes 10,000 hours to become expert at something. I have not been counting the hours, but time flies when you are learning what rewards you.
The Arizona landscape is dramatic and our sky is blue and huge. But the people and animals that live in this desert constantly inspire me to mash them together in subtly surreal ways. Doing a range of portraits, landscapes, and going on going on tangents keeps me busy.
