Artist Biography
Growing up along the Texas Gulf Coast I was strongly influenced by my mother, an accomplished artist and natural teacher. She encouraged and supported the path I took in art. I studied art at the University of Texas at Austin earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus on life drawing. I continued my education at the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, TX and the Art League of Houston. Over the years, I have studied under several notable artists including David Manje, Robert Burridge, Rheni Tauchid, Lori Richards, Polly Hammett, Arthur Turner and David Deming. I am a member of the Arizona Artists Guild and have works in many private collections around the country and internationally.

For the past 22 years I have lived and worked in Phoenix, Arizona. Having strong family ties to Texas, I travel frequently between the two states. I continue to be influenced by the rolling hills of the Texas Hill Country as well as the rugged, arid landscape of the low desert of Arizona. Inspiration from these scenes, and other places I encounter when I travel, frequently show up in my work. My fondness of animals is often reflected in my work because animals are inherently woven into our lives on this earth and we are inextricably bound together.

Artist Statement

My work represents connections. The emotional connections I have with the animals that come in and out of my life and those between other people and their pets. I connect to places, experiences and the beauty of the figure. I express this through paint and line work and hope the viewer is drawn into the work through movement, color and form.
