Sarnia native Lesli Larsen is a professional artist who specializes in realistic graphite portraits and sports photography. She has been active in both drawing and photography since childhood and these passions have led her to study drawing at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto and documentary/photojournalism at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Lesli’s enthusiasm for people and sports continues to provide immense inspiration for her work. She is currently accepting commissions for graphite portraits and her work can be found in multiple private collections in Ontario.
She is eternally grateful to God for the gifts He has given her and for being the foundation of her life.
“In art, the hand can never execute anything higher than the heart can inspire.”
My heart’s inspiration for creating portraits originates from a personal interest with both the unique persona and physical features found in each human face, especially in the eyes. A philosopher once stated that “the eyes are the windows to “the eyes are the windows to one’s soul” – a perspective to which I agree wholeheartedly and continue to draw upon (no pun intended!) for influence. The challenge in illustrating a person’s distinctive nature remains a deeply valued source of motivation. Ultimately, my deepest artistic satisfaction exists in capturing the heart of an individual through the depth and honesty that lies within their eyes.
